Many artists choose to take out event insurance prior to a tour to be covered in the event of an accident and cancellation. But not all artists get peace of mind from buying event insurance.

In the run-up to the 2024 festival season, several artists contacted Dansk Artist Forbund about insurance terms that did not adequately cover female artists. A foreign event insurance did not cover illness that occurred in connection with pregnancy and maternity leave.

The Danish Artist Association stepped in and clarified the terms.

"Of course, female artists should be able to perform their work on the same terms as their male colleagues. Also when it comes to taking on the huge financial responsibility of headlining events and tours," says Jens Skov Thomsen, Head of Legal Affairs at Dansk Artist Forbund.
