Extended professional advice
about sexism in the artist industry
The Danish Artists' Union has strengthened its professional counselling on experiences of inappropriate or inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.
The counselling service now includes more external specialists, and the association's board of directors has also decided that non-members can also receive professional help.
The open offer for non-members is valid for the rest of the year.
"The reason is that we stand in solidarity with all colleagues at a time when the music and performing arts industry is experiencing a particular need for increased dialogue about safety, togetherness and behaviour in our work environments. It is a shared responsibility to create safety for everyone," says artist spokesperson Sara Indrio.
It's the nature of the enquiry that sets the direction for how we can help further - whether you need to talk to an external specialist in occupational health and safety issues, get legal help or something else entirely.
Counselling is open to anyone who experiences sexual harassment, inappropriate language/remarks, insults or inappropriate behaviour in connection with their work as a musician, artist, entertainer or circus and performing artist.
The open offer lasts for the rest of the year, until the end of December 2024.
Have a conversation with a counsellor
When you contact the union counsellor, it's about your experiences and your needs.
During the conversation you can clarify what options there are to improve the situation, where and how you can get help.
If the situation requires case management from our legal and professional team, it is still necessary to become a member.
Your experiences and the changing industry
You can also call to share your thoughts on how the industry can improve. If you've been in collaborations with a good working environment, or you've noticed things that have ruined things for a colleague, you can also talk to the advisor about it and feel free to write to the board.
We want to talk to anyone who has experiences and ideas on how the cultural industry can develop good models and offers that can help improve working environments and collaborations.
Tavshedspligt
The advisor is bound by confidentiality and will not disclose any information. Suggestions, ideas and input for the organisation's work will only be passed on if it is agreed upon.
